The average driver spends more than four years of their life in a car. To make this time more valuable, automotive manufacturers are investing in connected services, digital entertainment, and smart in-car experiences.

The Challenge

FOMOF*

Fear Of Missing Out On Football? To tackle customers’ FOMO on football, DFL (Deutsche Fußball Liga) developed a concept that streams personalized Bundesliga content directly into vehicles.

The challenge was not only technical but strategic: how to visualize the capabilities of this solution, communicate its business value to global car manufacturers, and secure an exclusive in-car sponsorship deal. Success required a proof-of-concept compelling enough to showcase both innovation and ROI.

The Solution

The In-Car Stadium

We created a 3D visualization of a generic EV interior, designed to demonstrate Bundesliga content delivery in real-world driving scenarios – from waiting at traffic lights to charging stops. The interactive mockup included synchronized seating, lighting effects, and a driver interface prototype, all built to highlight how entertainment and digital transformation consulting in the automotive sector can reshape customer experience.

The Solution

Driving Awareness

Beyond the tech demo, we crafted materials that presented a clear business strategy for manufacturers: the in-car stadium experience as a unique sponsorship opportunity, strengthening brand strategy and unlocking long-term business growth strategies.

The Impact

A match made in Germany

The Bundesliga in-car app was successfully piloted during the 2023/24 season by BMW, and in August of 2024 a contract for content-cooperation was signed with BMW for the 2024/20225 season. This is a significant and entirely new business for DFL and gives BMW a unique value to its customers.

"We are delighted to be able to offer our customers a unique soccer experience directly in their vehicle."

- Bernd Körber, Senior Vice President BMW Brand and Product Management

"The successful pilot phase shows that football fans also enjoy watching the Bundesliga in their cars."

- Dr. Roman Schade, Head of Audiovisual Rights DACH at the DFL
