HSB, Sweden’s largest housing cooperative, provides homes for one in ten Swedes. In 2023, the cooperative celebrated its centennial anniversary with a nationwide roadshow, a mobile expo truck designed to meet residents where they live.

The Challenge
100 Years of Homesickness
The goal was to celebrate HSB’s 100-year journey, highlight its role in raising living standards, and showcase the latest innovations in sustainable housing and design. But the real challenge was how to make history tangible. To show what no longer exists, HSB needed more than static displays, they needed a way to recreate the feeling of stepping into a home from 1923.

The Solution
Time Travel as a Service
With the help of immersive technology and extended reality (XR), Frank Valiant built an exact VR replica of a 1923 kitchen, down to the finest details. Every element was historically accurate and interactive, from the rag rug on the wooden floor to the nostalgic crackle of a 1920s radio, even the possibility of leafing through a century-old housing magazine. The entire experience was designed to be scalable, mobile, and engaging. Packed into the traveling expo trailer, it allowed visitors outside their local hardware store to slip on a headset and step back in time, an interactive digital twin of history itself.

"Everyone has been excited about the VR station – from young to old. It has been incredibly successful in showing off the details of the old kitchen and in strengthening our overall brand. We have had a wonderful collaboration and look forward to creating new projects with Frank Valiant."
