Bringing Offshore Rigs and 100-Year-Old History to Life

In the world of high-end 3D and XR, we often talk about visualizing the “future.” But some of the most powerful applications of this technology are about capturing things that are physically, or even chronologically, out of reach.

At Frank Valiant, we specialize in creating digital experiences for environments you simply cannot visit. By looking at our work with Maersk Drilling and HSB, we see two sides of the same coin: using tech to bring the “unreachable” directly to the user.

Maersk Drilling: Bridging the Physical Distance

For Maersk Drilling, the challenge was logistical. Their massive offshore vessels are engineering marvels, but they are located hundreds of miles out at sea. You can’t easily fly a group of stakeholders to a rig for a tour.

We solved this by building a high-fidelity 3D digital twin. By “bringing offshore, on-shore,” we allowed Maersk to:

  • Transport the Audience: Give stakeholders a true sense of scale and technical complexity without the helicopter ride.

  • Explain the Invisible: Visualize safety protocols and drilling processes that are usually hidden beneath the surface.

  • Simplify the Sale: Turn a distant, abstract asset into a tangible, interactive experience in a boardroom.

HSB: Bridging the Temporal Distance

While Maersk dealt with distance in space, HSB dealt with distance in time. To celebrate their centennial anniversary, HSB wanted to let people experience their heritage. But how do you walk someone through a kitchen from 1923 that no longer exists?

The answer was “Time Travel as a Service.” For HSB’s mobile anniversary expo, we built a historically accurate, fully interactive VR replica of a 1920s kitchen.

  • Historical Precision: Every detail, from the rag-rug on the floor to the sounds on the vintage radio, was meticulously researched.

  • Emotional Branding: Instead of just reading about 100 years of progress, visitors could step inside the past and experience the HSB legacy firsthand.

  • The “Wow” Factor: It transformed a standard anniversary roadshow into an immersive event that strengthened the brand’s connection with its tenants.

The Power of the "Virtual Visit"

Whether it’s a modern drilling rig in the North Sea or a kitchen from a century ago, the goal remains the same: Total Immersion. By leveraging Frank Valiant’s expertise in XR and 3D visualization, these organizations were able to:

  • Remove Barriers: If a location is too far away or literally doesn’t exist anymore, we build it.

  • Engage All Senses: We go beyond “looking” to “experiencing,” making the message stick.

  • Humanize Complexity: We take cold data or dusty history and turn it into a story that people can walk through.

Technology isn't just for looking forward. Whether you are selling a massive industrial solution or celebrating a century of heritage, XR is the bridge that brings your most unreachable assets into the palm of your hand.
